Contemporary copy of a 1765 report by Monsieur Marsac, who Col. John Bradstreet had ordered in 1764 to deliver a message of peace, seventeen belts of wampum, and an "assortment" of rum and tobacco to the Ottawa and Ojibwa chiefs at Saginaw, Michilimackinac, Arbre Croche, and the falls of St. Marie.

In 1764 Col. John Bradstreet led a force from Niagara on a mission to relieve Detroit and subdue the Delawares and Shawnees who had participated in Pontiac's uprising. Contrary to his orders, Bradstreet concluded a peace treaty with the two tribes at Fort Presque Isle (Erie, Pa.).
